Over on our facebook page, we’ve been asking our local followers to share the restaurants they would recommend to visitors. As someone who’s lived here for 8 years, I was surprised how many of these places were new to me. Clearly, I’ve been missing out! Here they are, with links to their websites. Bon appetit!
In Bentonville, we had a vote for Table Mesa (one of my favorites – DO NOT miss their tres leche cake) and then someone who said there are too many to pick from! I happen to love The Pressroom (the paté and BLT sandwich are my current go-to choices), and of course we can’t forget the yumminess that is Crepes Paulette. The culinary scene in Bentonville is growing quickly, so there always seems to be something new popping up.
In Rogers, Theo’s got a vote for their huge and popular bar (they make some great speciality cocktails). I’m also a fan of Basil’s for yummy pasta dishes and have heard raves about The Green Bean for lunch only on weekdays; they are not open at other times. And of course, we can’t forget Monte Ne Inn Chicken, which is a bit of a drive but worth it for the best fried chicken in the region.
In Siloam Springs, the newly opened 28 Springs received multiple glowing recommendations; chef Miles James has a lot of fans! Thai City was another recommendation and Taquerio El Rancho has great Urbanspoon ratings for Mexican cuisine.
In Eureka Springs, several folks recommended the balcony restaurant at the Basin Park Hotel; they claim the best burger in Eureka. The Squid & Whale Pub features food and lives music, and Devitos also got a couple of votes. I don’t live in Eureka, but I love visiting Ermilio’s when I am in town and craving Italian.
Springdale‘s recommendation was the biggest surprise to me: the Flaps Down Grill at the Springdale Airport. Full disclosure: I’ve never been there but they offer an interesting menu, including the $250 burger (for $12). I think I will definitely have to check this place out.
In Fayetteville, we had recommendations for Greenhouse Grille, Herman’s Ribhouse (an institution for steak-lovers), Catfish Hole (you could make a meal of the hush puppies and tomato relish), Tangiers (Mediterranean) and Spring Rolls Bistro. Hawaiian Brian’s was recommended for their Hawaiian chicken, and I recommend Green Submarine for great sandwiches (the French Dip is amazing).
There are many, many more restaurants in the region; these are just a sampling. If you’re traveling and like to use your smartphone for such things, I recommend getting either the Urbanspoon or Yelp aps; they will show you the top rated restaurants in your location. Happy eating!
