Cirque Ziva is the latest theatrical performance by the Golden Dragon Acrobats, who have been recognized as the preeminent Chinese acrobatic company in the United States. Each year, director and producer, Danny Chang, and his wife and choreographer, Angela Chang, attend acrobatic competitions around the world to select the most elite performers for the Golden Dragon Acrobats. The company began touring the U.S. in 1985 and has performed in all 50 states with over 200 performances. Although they have been actively touring for almost 30 years, the Golden Dragon Acrobats remain the only Chinese acrobatic company to tour the United States year-round.
In 2005, the Golden Dragon Acrobats performed on Broadway in a seven-week run, and earned nominations for the New York Drama Desk Awards, including Best Choreography and Most Unique Theatrical Experience. They’ve also earned countless positive reviews all over the country, including the Washington Post, who stated, “The Golden Dragons represent a well-placed sampler of a highly stylized art form. There is precision and beauty about everything these performers do.”
Cirque Ziva is exciting, fast-paced and family-friendly. All ages are welcome to come and enjoy traditional Chinese acrobatics, dance and costumes, ancient and contemporary music and modern theatrical techniques.
Cirque Ziva is part of the Kimberly Clark Family Fun Series with additional support provided by Lee & Linda Scott and David & Rosamond Banks. Media support is provided by NWA Media. For tickets, call the box office at 479.443.5600 or visit www.waltonartscenter.org.
